Tyler Schwartz

Mr. Schwartz began a career in land stewardship and ecological design after graduating from University of Virginia in Environmental and Urban Planning. As part of the Institute for Environmental Negotiation at UVa during his graduate degree, he specialized in urban ecology and landscape design.

He has a Masters in Landscape Architecture from FIU School of Architecture, a Masters in Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia and a Bachelors in Environmental Design in Planning from University of Colorado.

Prior to starting his firm, Tyler Schwartz worked as project manager / landscape designer with Nievera Williams Design – a nationally established LA firm – working on residential high end and commercial landscape architecture projects around South Florida.

From modern site design to classical gardens, Mr. Schwartz learned how to create elegant designs from concept to construction, with focus on bringing Florida native plant species to the forefront of landscape design.

Mr. Schwartz believes that landscaping should go beyond being an ornamental afterthought: it should be a thought out part of our environment, that enhances homes and businesses both aesthetically and environmentally by hosting native pollinators and conserving natural resources.

The Company

TSD was started in Pinecrest, FL as a residential landscape design and ecological gardening firm. We wanted to design gardens with a sensitive approach for both biodiversity and the client’s practical vision of creating a home that engages landscape from inside out.

Our first clients came from Little Havana in Miami, who had a desire to change the cultural mindset of urban blighted neighborhoods and engage apartment inhabitants with ecology.

Tyler Schwartz Design has access to a network of local contractors that understand the importance of the plants and installations being used.
